About Mark Green

Mark Green is a first-generation American whose parents came to Wisconsin and found there was no better place to raise a family and live out the American Dream. After growing up in Green Bay, Mark went on to star as an All-American swimmer at UW-Eau Claire, earn a graduate degree from UW-Madison and spend a year as a volunteer teacher in Africa with his wife, Sue.

Mark was first elected to Congress in 1998 after running that year's only campaign in the nation to successfully defeat an incumbent House Democrat. Prior to that, he served six years in the state Assembly.

Mark is best known for developing some of the toughest penalties for child sex molesters on the books today. He's also been a leader in the fight to reduce taxes, cut wasteful government spending and create good jobs.

However, Mark is most proud of his tenacious efforts on behalf of the people he represents. He successfully secured a new veterans clinic for the state, fought to give our dairy farmers fair treatment and pressed federal agencies to continue searching Lake Michigan for the lost Linda E. fishing vessel until it was finally found in the summer of 2000.

Time and time again, Mark has taken on the special interests and the bureaucrats and won.

Mark and Sue live in Green Bay with their children. As much as he can, you'll find Mark at his daughters' soccer matches and swim meets and his son's basketball games.
